In the heart of an era marked by great challenges and transformations, a visionary group of young leaders decided to ignite a light that would illuminate the path of higher education in Mexico. Thus, in 1935, the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) was born, the first private university in Mexico, with a firm commitment: to shape integral leaders, dedicated to their community and prepared to face the world's challenges.

OUR HISTORY

Foundation and First Steps

In 1935, the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara was founded, the first private university in Mexico, established with the vision of providing free, comprehensive, and excellent education.

During the 1940s, the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara (UAG) experienced a crucial period of academic consolidation and institutional expansion.

During these years, the university not only strengthened its academic structure but also initiated a visionary expansion and established key international relationships that positioned it as a model to follow.

During this stage, the second phase of the Master Development Plan was launched, bringing with it fundamental reforms in academic and administrative systems.

During this decade, the facilities continued to grow with the construction of new buildings, reflecting its expansion and vision for the future.

On its 56th anniversary, UAG gained full academic independence through Agreement 158, which allowed it to issue its own degrees at all educational levels.

In the year 2000, UAG's School of Medicine received approval from the State of New York thanks to its educational quality, standing out for its International Program for American students.
